The Download Button for the plugin doesn´t work in your client portal. There comes a XML Error. I refreshed the site a view times and retried it but the error still remains.
Can you please help me how I can Download the plugin?

Sorry for inconvienince, we have just fixed your client portal download issue, please download File Manager PRO and Download Manager Add-on.
Thanks.March 24, 2019 at 6:16 pm #11040
Thanks for your immediate feedback. The download of both plugins worked now but the API Key for File Manager PRO is missing? The API Key of the Download Manager doesn´t work.
In client area under File Manager PRO Downoad it sayz “Not API key found, please contact support.”.
I bought both in a set. Please fix this problem.

Somehow they both seems to work without API Key. It is mysterious that WPFM Downloads add-on is open but the add-on is not activated?
If I try to activate this WPFM Download Addon it shows an fatal error:
Fatal error: Cannot redeclare wpfm_admin_download_cpt_meta() (previously declared in /var/www/ … /wp-content/plugins/wpfm-pro/inc/admin.php:93) in /var/www/ … /wp-content/plugins/wpfm-addon-download-manager/inc/admin.php on line 31
So for now it is deactivated but shown in backend. But as the add-on seems to work I tried a few situations, and I was unable to make a user to be able to upload files in a download section?
- Created an empty download section
- in File Sources > Selec Users > User A
- in File Access > Selec Users > User A, User B
I want User A to see and upload files in this section and User B only to download files from this section but no ability to upload.
Both users can see the empty folder. But no User can upload? How is it possible to make this possible?

First of all make sure you have latest File Manager Free version 14.0 installed. Also re-install File Manager PRO version from client portal. And then it should work fine Download Manager Add-on.
And to allow user to upload you need to create Upload Area with File Mananer with shorcode like:
Download Manager is only to use allow users to download files uploaded by above shortcode. You can restrict uploader page to certain roles using page settings in plugin.
Please let me know if more help needed.March 25, 2019 at 5:04 pm #11047
Thank you for help. I tried carefully what you explained.
The installed version of FIle Manager Free was even v14.0. So I left it like it is and reinstalled File Manager PRO. After that I tried again to activate the Download Manager Add-on but the Fatal Error remains… so it is still deactivated (but available and editable) ? Any new suggestions?
I didn´t found any “page” settings in the File Manager plugin to restrict any wp users from uploading? I foud groups so I jjust created 2 groups and I saw that in every file/folder created by FM there is an option to check these groups but unfortunately there is no info if this means “Access” or “Upload” (in case of checking in a folder) ? I tried a few checking/unchecking examples but nothing changed in frontend. On top of that there is no option to assign these groups to any available wp user? Also in the wp-internal user management there is no option to assign users to these groups. So how can these groups get assigned to wp users?
So many questions. Isn´t there any full documentation of the plugin to see all the possibilities?
How can I change the look/ make it comfortable with a customers corporate design?
How can I show/hide options like “Sort by”, “File Attributes” ?
How can I “override” bootstrap.css without changing your original css-files? I saw that all stylesheets been loaded inside the content – after theme style.css. So do I have to put stylesheet changes in footer to make your style changeable?
How can I change the frontend language to german? I saw inside the language folder that there are german po´s and mo´s avialable but inside the plugin settings there is no feature to change the language?

Simon, I don’t think you downloaded WPFM Pro from client portal. Please download it again from client portal and re-install. It will fix this issue.
Now, you can create groups and restrict groups to certain role so user under these role can upload files. Here is details about setting groups file manager: https://najeebmedia.com/blog/wordpress-file-sharing/
And you can find information about Download Manager on same page: https://najeebmedia.com/blog/wordpress-file-sharing/
I will send more details about designs changes like how to add your own css soon. For frontend items like remove filters you can see Frontend settings tab.March 28, 2019 at 7:25 pm #11073
I re-downloaded the plugin now and it worked as you mentioned. The Download Add-on is activated. Thank you for help.
So good to know now where the plugin´s documentation is hided 🙂 I didn´t found this blog entry before. In between 30s I understood the way how to use your group management. Thank you so much!
The Frontend Settings Tab inside File Manager > Settings has unfortunately no option to hide the “Sorted by > Name/Type” filter?
These are my options:
- File Grid – Select files to show in a row.(Desktop only)
- Allow Guests to upload? – Tick this if you want to allow any guest to upload files.
- Allow Directory? – Allow User to create directories on Frontend.
- Allow Send File – This will allow users to send/share via Link in Email.
- Allow to Choose Group? – This will allow user to select File Group while uploading File.
- Filter by Groups? – This will show File Groups filter to users on frontend.
- Show Logout Link? – This will show logout button on Frontend.
- Hide Uploader area? – This will hide uploader area on Frontend.
- Hide files?
Last option could be to catch its id/class to set it to display:none. So I am very suprised about your upcoming infos how to adapt the look without “touching” your code. When do you see a time to give me some more help for changing the corporate look? The upcoming weekend is planned to get this thing done cause my presentation meeting is on tuesday and I hopefully can present a ready system. I hope so 🙂
Upon all of that it would be very nice to change the frontend into german sowehow? As I´ve seen some german po´s and mo´s I got some hope that there is a way?
SimonMarch 30, 2019 at 9:21 pm #11079
I´m loading a css file in the footer.php to react on your id´s and classes. So I found a way somehow to change the look a bit. As you load graphics as buttons direct in your code instead of css backgrounds I had to rearrange your code a bit. So upcoming updates will become a bit tricky. May you have any better suggestion?
I had a look at the german po-file in your language folder and it´s well translated but I can´t find a way to change it? I´ve searched everywhere. Where do I have to edit your code to load the german language? Please please help me.
SimonApril 4, 2019 at 2:19 pm #11107
we may add a feature in future update to make templates available in theme (override).
And for translation, which translation plugin you using? we checked with WPML and it works.April 4, 2019 at 5:32 pm #11116
I`m using no translation plugin. The site has only one langiage – german. I just want to set the frontend output fix to german.
Someting else I´ve tried seems to be impossible. May you got any idea?
I have 2 users which uploads data in one file container and then I got a third user who can download from this container but he cannot upload. These 2 uploaders are making them uploads in a page with the shortcode [nm-wp-file-uploader] and the donwload user sees another page with the shortcode [wpfm-downloads download_id=”xxx”].
When user 1 and user 2 uploads data user 3 can see all these files and download them. Everythings fine.
But both users 1 and 2 cannot see the files of each other? So how is it possible to make these 2 uploaders to see and edit them files mutually?
User 1 is gone. Now user 2 has to administrate all these files. How can I make this possible?April 5, 2019 at 12:24 pm #11118
Please just forget all my questions except one important question cause till now I fixed nearly everything by my own by changing your code directly.
One last very important thing remains:
I am unable to make a specific “data container” available for upload users since they both reaches a page with your shortcode [nm-wp-file-uploader] inside. But they cannot see & edit the data of each other? Every users sees only his own data.
In the download section everything comes together and is available for download. But since upoloaders has to come back to the file manager area to edit these data, they are unable to edit data of another upload user? Every user can edit only his own data? Isn´t there any posibility to edit data from another user?
I´ve also created a group for all upload users (the are both authors). Then I checked the id of this group and changed the shortcode like this [nm-wp-file-uploader group_id=”the-group-id”, role=”author”] instead of the standard shortcode [nm-wp-file-uploader]. But everything remains the same. Everyone who goes at upload page can see only his own data?
It would be so helpful if you could help me a bit how I can make this possible? This is really the last thing I have to fix to launch this project.
SimonApril 5, 2019 at 12:47 pm #11119
I gave both users now the role “editor” instead of “author and I changed the shortcode too. The Frontend File Manager page (frontend upload area) doesn´t changed something. But I found out that both can reach now all files in the wp admin area under “File Manager > All Files”.
So normally now they have the rights to see each others files but in frontend nothing changed. I have to leave these users in any case in the frontend to edit the “file base”. It has to be as simple as possible for them. That´s the reason why I choosed your plugin 🙂
Please help if you have any solution for me.
SimonApril 5, 2019 at 2:48 pm #11121
Well the main feature of this plugin is allow members to upload and manage their files PRIVATELY, it’s the key feature. We cannot allow users to edit each other files as a general feature of this plugin. But we can customize it for specific needs as you need this specifically.
You can contact us via firstname.lastname@example.org for a customized solution.
